Spiritual Awakenings and Your Spiritual Journey

“Spiritual Awakening” crops up on social media in spirituality groups quite a bit, but what is it? There are plenty of answers, and it depends who answers.

Years ago I read some books published by Lucis Trust which were written in around the 1920’s. They were channelled books about spirituality and they went into very great detail on a lot of topics. They weren’t an easy read but they were interesting and you had to concentrate hard. Those were different times to how we take in information on social media.

One point that was made was that people are at different stages of spiritual development. Some are beginners, then there are novices, then there are adepts, and then masters, with levels in between. A very simple analogy could be the system of coloured belts that exist in various martial arts disciplines to show the different levels of expertise. In spirituality there are lots of levels, and it helps to also consider reincarnations.

Life, from the very first physical life, through the very many reincarnations, to the last life is a spiritual journey of developing consciousness. From being totally unconscious to moving into Universal Mind (or Infinite Mind) upon achieving God-realization. There are lots of stages along the way.

A person will be somewhere along their spiritual journey, whether they are a beginner in terms of their spiritual development, or a novice and so on. In the early stages of their life they may, or they may not, show a leaning towards spirituality.

Beings on the inner planes will be able to have a sense of a person’s spiritual level or aptitude, as they can easily read the aura, the chakras and any glow of light that person is giving out.

When the timing is right and the opportunity is there, these beings on the inner planes can give an energetic nudge, or a blast of energy, and really wake up the person to a new way of feeling, thinking and of viewing themselves and the world. Sometimes the inner plane beings can be gentle, or take advantage of an event in a person’s life, or whack some energy in to cause a crisis and really shove the person towards a change of life and a change of awareness.

The person has a spiritual awakening.

In some lives, that are rest lives, it doesn’t happen. But to take one of the very many steps up in spiritual consciousness is a spiritual awakening. In all the lifetimes that a person has they will increase their level of consciousness many, many times. That means they will have many, many spiritual awakenings.

To do it in one jump would be too much, the person would absolutely not be able to handle the energy, never mind the massive, gigantic change in perception and thinking. Besides, the soul would miss out on all that experience, and the journey is as important to savour as the end result. Though is that really the end result? Cycles within cycles, within cycles. There is always more.

In this lifetime, I think back to the awakening I had as I learnt T’ai Chi to deal with a relatives death. I learnt about energy, myself and life in a new way. My life changed and there grew more distance between myself and old friends while I made new friendships (all according to my karma).

Some strange and dark dreams, an emotional breakdown accompanied by a physical clearing that I won’t go into, and a dive into various therapies led the way to another shift in awareness. I tried to absorb some spiritual concepts into my life and into my thinking. Again, there was a shift away from an old life, and old way of thinking, into a new life, and new thinking.

I had been reading a book called “A Course in Miracles” and using the daily lessons. I was still doing T’ai Chi which I think is truly fantastic and still do every now and again. I was between flats and staying in a spare room at a friend’s shared house. The other people took heroin and were more interested in that than looking after the place, which was grubby with a kitchen sink that had life evolving in it. I felt depressed. I had been reading a book that went on about seeing the beauty of God in things, which contrasted vividly with the place I was staying in. I thought about some of the things that I had seen that I thought were beautiful. I thought about the sunshine on a beach, snow covered countryside and falling snowflakes, I thought about the morning sun on a girlfriend’s hair. I thought about God being in these situations. And then I thought, “If I can see these things that God is in, then that means that God is inside me”. Immediately my life and my world fell upside down, or right side up. It was like a physical shock wave going through me. I smiled, and in that smile was the feeling of so much joy, of so much love, and peace and wonderment. My heart opened.

The next day at a T’ai Chi class in a break, the instructor was talking and asking us what we did for a living out of curiosity. When she asked me, I said that I didn’t know, that I felt I wasn’t sure any more. She looked at me as if I was some kind of fool, so I recounted what had happened the night before. She smiled and laughed and gave me a big hug, saying I had found something very important.

A couple of months after, and I had still been reading “A Course in Miracles” and doing the daily lessons I had an experience on the London Underground. I was sat in the carriage looking at the people and thinking “God is in you and God is in me”. I then thought “I am in you and you are in me” (because God was in me and the other passengers). The carriage filled with white light that seared through me. That evening in my flat, I was in a light filled state, feeling like each cell in my body was vibrating. I looked at objects in turn, saying, quite spontaneously, things like “God is in this chair”, or “God is in this table… window… tree” and so on. The flat looked out over a park and there was a great storm which swayed the huge trees and felled many, and I was vibrating, filled with light, and everything seemed to be filled with vibrating God as well. I was as high as a kite with this energy. I was truly white-lighted, spiritually drunk. It took me years to come back down to earth.

There have been many incremental awakenings since and some new style meditation techniques have played their part. Some awakenings were big, some small, but not so big that the energy blew my head off, though one time I went so high I could feel my heart becoming irregular and had to make a massive effort to stay in my body, not drop my body and physically die, and get my roots down deep into the ground.

Spiritually awakening bit by bit is fine with me.

Meditative Visualisation in the Morning Rush Hour

Some years ago, before I got into meditation, I would use visualisation a lot. Travelling north from South London on the Victoria Line I would usually be standing holding on to a handle above me as the Tube was always packed in the morning rush hour. You can be quite anonymous on a London Tube, so I would close my eyes, offer my day to God and then ask for the energy I required for the day. I would get some lovely coloured energies (such as tangerine orange or light blue) flowing in through my head which flowed to be stored around my body to be used by me during the day. I felt I was also storing gifts of energy to be given to other people as well. Simultaneously some coloured energy (such as dark blue) would flow up from the earth and through roots into my feet, and then around my body. In this way I would get a healing and get charged up for situations in the day ahead as I went through my karma. I also had gifts for other people. I would ask for a coloured cloak to offer some protection.

The flow of energy into my being from above and below would take a couple of minutes and felt great. I’d then often try to read a newspaper one-handed to find out what was going on in the world, even though it was only what was being reported at the time. Nowadays I find it interesting to look at the reported news and then have an intuitive look, which is also great for things that don’t get reported on. I don’t get to travel on the London Underground that often now.

The colours in the last three meditations – what they mean

The last three meditations were based around three colours, gold, white and blue.

The gold colour is the light of the first Divine Journey, which is falling like golden snowflakes down through the planes in physical creation. Its effects are many. Powerful healing is one effect, but it is healing from a higher perspective rather than a lower perspective. So it’s healing that brings about the most appropriate and extensive development. Another effect is stimulating massive change by stimulating karma. This burns up a lot of negative and old dark energy. It also brings in and stimulates new positive development on a personal level, right through to a global level and beyond. To summarize, old energy and karma gets used up, and is replaced by something more wonderful. The gold is a form of bliss, and has in it some wonderful guidance to bring about change for a more loving life and world (though it will still have its challenges).

More on change vs being comfortable in a later post.

The second energy in terms of power and intensity of love and light is the white light. This is a filtered version of the light of the second Divine Journey, just a sprinkling. This light is a form of bliss, and again brings about healing and change from a spiritual perspective. There is a lot more to this energy, and this can be explored by doing the white light meditation.

The third energy is the blue light. In the meditation offered, this relates to a diluted version of the blue of the third Divine Journey, and is a form of grace. Very powerful. Again, there is so much more to this light than can be written about here. Though once again, using the blue light meditation will give direct experience.

Over the next three thousand years these three energies are all going to come down through all the planes of creation, right down to the very bottom. The result? Massive and total change in the world and creation, so that humanity will be very different. All that old negative dark and karma from the distant past needs to be burnt up and transmuted, and a lighter and more love filled world created, peopled with people who feel and think and act differently to how they do now. Which means all old centres overhauled and new additional ones, and a general reworking of the aura and so on to be able to live in a more intense and refined energy.

Enjoy the meditations (more to follow).

Life is going to be anything but boring and predictable in the future. It could be a grand spiritual adventure.

White Light Meditation

(This article has been updated to include a recording of the meditation at the end. Enjoy.)

Here’s an analogy: If you want to decorate a room white there are many types of white to choose from.

In meditation there are different types of white light. For example, the white light found on the first plane is different in intensity and brightness and refinement to the white light found on the higher planes, which are increasingly brighter and more refined. Again, astral white light is different to the brighter mental white light.

The types of white light found on the Divine Journeys is even brighter and more refined. The white light of the second Divine Journey is white, and amongst other qualities it is a form of bliss. The Paramatman light can also be considered as being white, and that has all kinds of effects.

The format for this meditation is similar to the previous two meditations.

Sit upright to align the centres or chakras. Relax your breathing.

Imagine a stream of brilliant, pure white light flows down onto the top of your head. It permeates through your head. Notice how that feels.

Let this stream of pure love and light flow down your neck. You might be able to notice how this brilliant white light affects your throat centre.

This white light flows down through your shoulders and arms to your fingers, stimulating the small centres and giving them an energetic make-over.

This white light flows down your body, igniting the major and minor centres, including the heart centre, solar plexus and sexual centre, and then the base centre. Notice the effect.

This brilliant white light of light and love flows down through your hips and legs to your toes, through all the minor centres there.

Your skin glows bright white for several moments.

Once the light is absorbed by your body, white light fades.

In your own time, open your eyes.

This is a powerful meditation to do every day and it doesn’t take long to receive a wash of healing white light, which gives a little push to your spirituality.
