“Know Thyself” means what?

An ancient axiom of spirituality was “Know Thyself”.

Seems obvious and essential, plus profound and a worthy soundbite which is and was always dramatic enough to make an impression. Also, in the days of carving words into stone, it didn’t take long to carve this phrase.

It is the kind of phrase that can mean whatever you want it to mean, and the limit on it is the questions you know that you can ask, and the issues you know about. Also, there can be a point to knowing yourself. But what “to know” depends on where you are at in your life.

For some people it is enough for them to know what kinds of friends they like, what people they like to follow on social media, the music they like, the fast food they like and don’t like, the political views they like (and don’t like) etc. Life is such for these people that they haven’t had to consider other issues ( a big yet), including more life and death type issues; the kind that force people to re-prioritize their lives.

People who set up businesses, if they write a business plan, often do a SWOT: Lists of Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats. All useful stuff in a business context, and which can helpfully spill out into everyday life.

There are jobs where making good decisions and taking the right actions can be critical. For instance surgeons often have to consider how they make decisions and why they make the decisions they do. If they make mistakes they have to learn from them. So surgeons have to learn and reflect on how they make decisions, and know this about themselves.

Even in sport, even though the outcomes can be less crucial, sports psychologists will help elite sports people get to know their thinking processes and decision making, so that they make better choices. This is soemthing that can be useful in other aspects of life. It is something that many people would find helpful.

Part of knowing thyself in an elite sports context, and also in high pressure situations is knowing how you cope in an extremely stressful situation, on your own and with others in a team. In some walks of life this can prove invaluable. For instance, if someone works in an emergency department in a hospital, or as a paramedic, or when helping out in a birth, or in sea rescue, and so on. All a bit different to sitting there in meditation and just trying not to think.

“Knowing thyself” can mean exploring your preferences more deeply to get to your values. You can find what really, deeply you think and feel, and particularly feel what is important. Then explore why and get down to the issues and articulate them. Taking the time to do this is powerful. But doing this won’t make you popular because it means that you will know your own mind, and that you won’t necessarily end up following the herd from one emotionally highly charged issue to the next, and the angry self-righteous will dislike you. But if you know what’s important to you, you probably won’t care about them trying to make out that (in their opinion) you are “wrong”, as you will know in your own mind you are right.

Issues and morals are an odd thing though. Even though they seem important right now, in years to come they will all change, and what was important will seem really unneccessary.

For myself, and I know others who use their third eyes, we feel into or look at issues with our third eyes. In this way it is possible to evaluate and energetically analyse an issue, or someone’s beliefs, or their opinions on an issue. In this way it is possible to sense what issue or belief or opinion is worth paying attention to, and what to disregard, and in a healing way, what issue needs some healing energy to deal with any twists or embedded negative energy. This approach is unconventional, and definitely means not following the herd, but doing what seems right from an energy point of view.

Knowing yourself in a spiritual context. That can mean a number of things depending on where you are at, and what feels right to you at whatever point you are on your spiritual journey. It might be what has been written about above is what is required.

It could mean knowing that from a spiritual and energetic point of view that you are a soul that is immortal, which reincarnates time and time again into lifetimes, each time with a new body and new personality, with new karma just right for that lifetime. That is something pretty big to know about.

In this context it helps to know that you as a soul came from God, from the Divine, into creation. So from the Light, to the relative darkness. Now why would you have done that? Why go through all the pain and suffering, all the emotion, and experience love and joy in all its forms? Why?

Well after a great deal of lives, and all that experience and learning you will know why, because God, who is Infinite in anycase, isn’t experienced in books and the Infinite can’t be learnt about intellectually. God is learnt about by living and experiencing what Love isn’t and what Love is. There is much more to this but why spoil the ending to your story when you can find out for yourself? Live, and Love.

In another spiritual context, knowing yourself can mean knowing you are a soul in a physical body, inside an etheric body, inside an emotional/astral body, inside a mental body, and that you are inside your aura, which has an outer coating as a protection. Inside all these bodies there are chakras or energy centres with different qualities and functions, though all of them let in energy, do something to that energy, and radiate or send out energy of different qualities. Many people still think there are seven main chakras, but times have moved on and there is change all around in the world, as there is change in people’s energy systems. So there are more chakras. You might notice these, or might not. Don’t worry if not. As a general rule, it is always good to focus on and meditate on the heart centre, as everything else gets affected by this. It is still good to learn how to clear and protect the centres from third eye down, and the other centres will make themselves apparent as and when. The heart centre is where it is at, spiritually.

In yet another spiritual context, it helps to think of things in terms of spirit, which can be thought of as an energy that pushes, influences and motivates in a particular way. Spirit can also be thought of as a flavour. You are a collection of spirits. So if you want to know yourself, you can think of yourself as a combination of the spirit you incarnated in with, a spirit from your father, a spirit from your mother, a spirit from your family, a spirit from the area you were born in, and a spirit from your country of birth. Then overlaid over these core spirits are the spirits you gather according to how you live, how you were treated when you were a child, what you experienced, from the things you are involved in and interested in, from the people you associate with and who you think are important, from your job if you are working…

Even moods and habitual thoughts can be thought of as spirit. So each lifetime, we are a veritable zoo of spirits, or perhaps an orchestra. Now is that orchestra producing a symphony or a cacophony or something inbetween? You can think of spirituality as knowing what spirits are there in your system, and getting rid of those you don’t want, and collecting up the spirits you do want (divine spirit anyone?) like some living version of a computer game where you can gain rewards and move onto the next level (or drop back to the start as in the spiritual game of snakes and ladders).

Each lifetime, we start over with another hotchpotch of spirits for the experiences we require, but with our intrinsic spirit having grown a bit.

“Know Thyself” in a spiritual context can mean knowing what we think. There is a spiritual saying that goes “energy follows thought”. Some people believe that we create our reality with our thoughts. This is only partially true as anyone who believed this notion and yet still found their house burnt down in fires, or totally destroyed or flooded in storms, or still ended up dying from some illness would have found out to their dismay. That’s it put bluntly. Thoughts have some influence, but usually karma wins out, as does the will of more powerful beings. If thinking is aligned with karma, any positive outcomes are usually attributed by the proud, happy person to their positive thinking. There are times though, when the karma is of the opportunistic type, where it can go positive or negative. Here, a person’s thoughts and their ability to focus and concentrate on putting out that thought can make something out of an opportunity. Also, some people know about spiritual matters such as the Law of Love, the Law of Faith, and what to do, what to think and what to avoid thinking, and how to take physical actions to bring about what they see as the most loving outcome. So what do you think about yourself? What would be the best to think of yourself? What do you think of others (what attitude do you have towards them)? As this affects the energy you radiate. Many thoughts need exploring as they are tucked away in the subconscious, and are very much worth knowing about. What are your thoughts about relationships? About your mother? About your father? About their relationship? (These we use as models in our own relationships.) What do you think about health? What do you think about money? About work? About success? About the future? About God? And so on. Sometimes our old thoughts don’t help us, and happily we can take on board new ones and focus on thinking those instead. Some thoughts we hold can be fairly neutral, emotionally. But when we think, we feel, we generate emotional energy. Some old thoughts and issues can have a lot of emotion bound up with them. Before we can realistically adopt new thoughts, we have to deal with the emotional energy. It is really worth exploring how to use forgiveness in this case. Sometimes with painful issues therapy of some sort is very helpful.

This is by no means a definitive exploration of “Know Thyself”, as there is more, as we all shall find out in due course.

Using Intuition on Social Media, and News

We can use intuition in simple quick ways in everyday life. For most people that can include social media and news on the internet, so that in the words of an old Who song, “we don’t get fooled again”. The simple technique involves using your imagination to imagine a post or news as flowers. Just get a quick image, and go with that. In this way there is no over thinking. if you prefer cars to flowers, use cars, or whatever type of object you like. Sometimes I like to imagine things as sounds played by a band or orchestra. It’s fun, but there is serious intent behind it.

Of course if you want to analyse the data further and really dig into it, that is possible too.

So if you want to develop your third eye and intuition further, you can. You can find out about strengthening your chakra system and aura and get the chakras to work together powerfully. You can learn how to work with thoughtforms and how to psychometrise posts, news, people, situations and things. If you are in business, being able to choose between different opportunities, and different possible timelines for short, medium, and longterm benefits is great.

There are techniques and information that can be acquired from the book, “Meditation: Opening Doorways On A New Reality” (See about the books).

There are articles and meditations on this blog you might be interested in looking at if you want to know more about intuition, third eye and clairvoyance, and more. It’s all basically about using your chakras, astral and mental body in the way they can be used, along with a guide or guides (make sure to have a good quality one as these are available).

Gain that Inner Sparkle: Meditation for Clearing and Healing Centres or Chakras.

There is living, and there is living with clear centres, which improves what you can do. You can tell people with clear, and healed centres by taking a clairvoyant look at them. Their centres will look like a column of shining and glowing lights in their bodies. Other people’s centres will be greyed out, or can even look really mucky and distorted. As we all get used to having third eyes that are open and active, we will all be able to sense each other energetically more easily than at present, and also be able to check our own energy.

Centres can be cleared through everyday ways, such as by sitting in front of an open fire. The fire is very purifying as an element. In fact, all the elements fire, earth, water and air can be used for clearing and healing. (These are different to chemical elements.) So swimming is good, the sea being particularly energetically cleansing. People talk about going for a walk when it’s windy, and “blowing away the cobwebs”, so they end up feeling refreshed. Then there is having a mudbath, so the earth soaks away the slow frequency chaotic negative energy. The trick is to know what element you have an affinity for, which tends to be the one you enjoy the most, and which creates a light feeling in your body.

There are some energies that require a bit more shifting, and energy methods that are available through some forms of meditation are required.

There have been several root races of humanity. In each root race, there was a spiritual focus on a particular centre which was being developed. In the Adamic root race, the base centre was the focus, as the beings were attempting to exist and root themselves in. In the Hypoborean root race, the sexual centre was the focus, as the base was up and running, in a basic way. So sex as a way of procreating was developing. In the third root race, the centre of feeling and of the body-mind, the solar plexus, was the strong focal point of development. In the Atlantrean root race, it was the heart centre which was being built up and developed. Though towards the end, the choice for too many was to use other centres predominantly. In the current root race whose moment in time is coming to an end, the Aryan, the focus of development has been on the throat centre. From Lemurian times onwards, people interested in energy and what was called the occult also worked and developed other centres, such as the third eye and crown. But this was only with a small minority of people. With the next root race, the sixth root race, things are a little different, and development is taking a bit of a leap forward.

The base centre, the sexual centre, and the solar plexus centre, are quite old centres, developed in humanities ancient past. These are the centres that accumulate the most slow frequency negative energy. People who have used or developed centres higher up the body during past lives by using occult or yogic practice, or who have been on the receiving end of the darker practices, can accumulate energy in the higher centres, or have pieces of negative energy embedded in there. Also, most people will have cordings attached to their centres from others, and these cordings can be sent in with positive or negative intent.

If people take drugs or drink a lot, that can mess up the centres badly, and sometimes the residual energy is sticky and hangs around. Not to mention the entities that can be nestling inside people’s auras due to drink and drugs.

If someone’s aura is a bit fragile, and they have open doorways on their centres, they can go someplace and just soak up energy. There are therapy consultation rooms where people release old, unwanted energy, or they have that energy taken off them by the therapy or healing. Then the energy is left in the room, as some therapists aren’t aware of energy and don’t find someway to release, cleanse or transmute it. A sensitive person can come into the room and soak it up. (There are therapists who do clean up as well.)

In this meditation you can shine up your centres. People like to wear jewellery and gold to sparkle on the outside. I prefer the look and feel of having the sparkle on the inside.

Sitting in a comfortable position, in a quiet space, breathe gently. Just breathe, and quite naturally, some of the unwanted energy will slide away and off. You can imagine this being whisked upwards as it does so, and it changes to white light.

Above your head are small points of bright blue light, that shine as bright as stars. These points of bright blue light are intelligent and loving in a divine way.

One point of light, enters your crown centre near the top of your head. It starts to shine very bright and very blue. Let yourself feel it, and notice what happens to your crown centre. Allow the process to flow and to take as long or as short as it needs.

Then another point of blue light will come into your head, and into your third eye centre, between and just above your eyebrows. This point of blue light will shine and glow very bright and very blue, all around your third eye centre, making sure it shines on the front and the back of your third eye. You may hear a very high pitched sound, like a high pitched chime. the third eye centre is a usual centre to accumulate negative energy and so it can benefit form this healing, to leave a clear space, with a blue tinge to it, of intelligent protection.

Another point of blue light comes down into the throat centre. There may be a high pitched chime as the point of blue light shines bright and blue and moves around as it gets to work clearing and healing this centre. Old energy will be thrown out to be taken up, and old cordings to your throat cleared away. This centre of expression may need multiple meditations to clear out energies from past lives so that your spirit can ring out and be expressed clear and true.

Allow the process of the blue points of light flowing down into your centres to happen in its own way and in its own time. They may come in to each centre in turn, or all at once. Let the healing happen as it does, and notice how each centre feels, as the points of blue light go into the heart centre, and the solar plexus, the sexual centre and the base centre. Just experience the meditation and enjoy the points of blue light as they go about the clearing and healing.

You may find the points of blue light also work on the smaller centres in your body. The points of blue light may also go into and energize other centres in your body, your head, and even above your head. whatever happens, allow yourself to feel and notice what is happening, and allow the process to complete at the speed it needs to.

You might notice different kinds of blue light which hold different qualities, shining in your centres. Towards the end, the blue points of light may remain as a glow in the background, which can be re-ignited when required.

When the meditation feels complete for now, open your eyes.

This meditation can be done prior to doing other meditation work. It is also useful to do one of the earlier meditations about closing doorways on centres afterwards, to keep the energy clean.

The meditation can be used with more detail so you can get to see the extent of the clearing and healing by viewing each centre as having a bottom part, a middle and a top part. The overall energy in the lower third will be slower frequency compared to the middle, and the higher third will have a higher frequency.

You can also visualize the point of blue light working on different levels of each centre. They can work on the physical, the etheric, the astral version of the centre and the mental version of the centre. The astral level can be most useful given that the astral levels are open. Doing this meditation you will end up with shiny and harmoniously functioning centres.

Spiritual Every-Flavour Jelly Beans Anyone?

Spiritual many flavoured jelly beans; a third eye speciality
Spiritual many flavoured jelly beans; a third eye speciality

Food for thought.

Everyone has a third eye they can use. It’s easier than you think. Just be playful and creative, have fun. Your third eye can give you an input based on all your senses that you can understand, through visuals, sounds, smells, tastes, and tactile feelings.

For instance, in the first Harry Potter film, Harry is given a packet of Bertie Botts Every Flavour Beans. Now it’s easy to imagine beans representing something you want some information on. I quite like to look at political parties, or politicians (some of those beans can taste really disgusting!). I like to to take a look, or a taste, of organizations; try the NSA, or CIA, or MI5, MI6, or the Russian or Chinese or Israeli, secret services. Imagine their leaders as beans. The head of the Iranian army is a dark old flavour, though he is being used in interesting ways in the chess game of life. Looking at organizations and people in this way can throw up some interesting information (hang on to your taste buds though, while some can taste fine, others need a bit of mouth rinsing).

The Every Flavour Beans approach works on many things, how local schools taste, the taste of local shops and supermarkets, charities, banks, media companies, oil and chemical companies, pharmaceuticals, financial businesses and their products, and countries. It works on commodities, such as tea or coffee products, where the taste of the beans correspond to living and working conditions of the workers (a lot of karma being drunk with some teas and coffees) and impact on the environment. You can try products from different countries where different rules apply. For instance, where the products are genetically modified, pumped with antibiotics and growth hormones. Or whether the products are free range or organic. There is an energy input with food, not just a physical, nutritional one. Plus there is karmic input (just see how animals are treated worldwide, watch the film Lucent about pigs).

So, even though the beans idea is a bit of fun, it can be used to consider some serious stuff. While some people and organizations have your best interests at heart, there are some dark lodge orientated ones that don’t, though they might claim to. Jelly beans are great, they can help to inform you, and inform your choices.

Chew on.

Purple light meditation and changing the third eye chakra

One of the many changes due for everyone in humanity is for everyone to become mediumistic. This can show itself as being clairvoyant, amongst other ways of experiencing the world around us in an energetic way rather than just through the physical senses.

Great, you (might) say. Actually, it’s a double-edged sword. You might see lots of beautiful astral and mental phenomena, be able to analyse the well-being of someone’s body, and your own body, and the lovely energy cordings between you and people you like. But then you may never want to ride the Subway, or Metro or Tube when you see what’s down there, or visit department stalls when you see what astral entities are hanging from the lights looking for their next meal (ever feel tired visiting those shops/stores?).

Energy has always been around us. Being mediumistic just means noticing it and changing how we interact and deal with our world.

Being able to energetically check out politicians, organisations and people on the television can be great fun and useful. It’s great to be able to see what really needs to be cleaned around the home, or thrown out. Check out the heart centre of that person who is trying to win you over; are they really trustworthy?

Here goes then:

Read this first then close your eyes and try it.

The first part is clearing your energy. White Light pours down from high with a silence and a stillness, washing over and all around you. The White Light is bright and pure, and refreshing.

The White Light pours inside your head like refreshingly cold spring water, washing through your head and down your neck. Let it wash through your body, and your arms, and your legs. Let the White Light wash through each organ, each muscle, each blood vessel and nerve. Let it wash through each bone.

Now in front of your head there is a sphere of purple light that is a compilation of light made for the third eye centre. The purple light simply moves towards and into the third eye centre. As it goes in, it creates a change, like an upgrade. You might be able to notice it. Stay with it for a few moments. You might notice the purple light flow to other parts of the body, making adjustments.

Stay with this for a while.

The purple light will then fade, as it’s work is done.

White Light again washes through, balancing and adjusting.

When you are ready, open your eyes.

There is a meditation earlier on the blog for buttoning up the centres which is a useful technique to master. I will put on a meditation to close the door on the third eye centre, as sometimes it’s nice to give it a rest.
